SmartRent Minimum System Requirements

SmartRent's minimum system requirements to achieve up to 1 Gbps internet speeds include Windows 10 (64-bit) or macOS 10.8, modern browsers like Chrome 56+, Gigabit Ethernet with Cat5e/Cat6 cables, Intel Dual Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 CPUs, 8 GB RAM, and 64 GB SSD, while packages up to 300 Mbps require similar but slightly less stringent specs including supported Windows/macOS versions, recent browsers, appropriate Ethernet interfaces (10/100/1000 for 300 Mbps, 10/100 for 50 Mbps), and comparable CPU, memory, and storage configurations.

The following information provides an overview of the minimum computer, device, in-home network, and system requirements that are required to achieve the package internet speeds and to limit connectivity issues.

Up To 1 Gbps Internet Package

The minimum requirements to achieve speeds of up to 1 Gbps downstream are:

  • Operating System:
    • Windows 10 (64 bit)
    • macOS 10.8

  • Web Browser:
    • Google Chrome 56.0.2924
    • Microsoft Edge (64 bit)
    • Mozilla Firefox 52 (64 bit)
    • Safari 8
  • Ethernet Cable:
    • Cat5e
    • Cat6
    • Note: Due to Ethernet overhead, actual download speeds are limited up to 1 Gbps while using a hardwired connection.
  • Ethernet:
    • Gigabit Ethernet interface or adapter
  • CPU/Processor:
    • Intel Dual Core i5
    • AMD Ryzen 5
  • Memory:
    • 8 GB of RAM
  • Hard Drive Space:
    • 64 GB SSD

All Other Internet Packages

The minimum requirements to achieve speeds of up to 300 Mbps downstream are:

  • Operating System:
    • Per the Microsoft Windows Lifecycle Fact Sheet, a Microsoft mainstream supported version of Windows
    • A recent version of macOS 10.8 per Apple Support for macOS
  • Web Browser:
    • A recent version of one of the following browsers:
      • Google Chrome
      • Microsoft Edge
      • Mozilla Firefox
      • Safari
  • Ethernet Cable:
    • Cat5e
    • Cat6
    • Note: Due to Ethernet overhead, actual download speeds are limited up to 1 Gbps while using a hardwired connection.
  • Ethernet:
    • To achieve speeds of up to 300 Mbps: 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet interface or adapter
    • To achieve speeds of up to 50 Mbps: 10/100 Fast Ethernet interface or adapter
  • CPU/Processor:
    • To achieve speeds of up to 300 Mbps: Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5
  • Memory:
    • 8 GB of RAM
  • Hard Drive Space:
    • 64 GB SSD
